BIOGECO ( BIOdiversité, GEnes & COmmunautés) est une Unité Mixte de Recherche (UMR) de l’INRAE et de l’université de Bordeaux. La mission de l’UMR Biogeco est de développer des recherches novatrices orientées vers l’analyse de la biodiversité à différentes échelles du vivant (des gènes aux communautés d’organismes) dans une perspective de gestion durable des ressources naturelles et des milieux. L’ambition de l’unité est de promouvoir une analyse intégrée de la diversité biologique, en considérant les interactions biotiques et l’effet du milieu afin de mieux comprendre les réponses des populations et des espèces aux changements globaux, ainsi que les mécanismes qui sous-tendent leur évolution et leur adaptation. Les écosystèmes étudiés sont variés mais avec un fort tropisme vers les forêts tempérées. Ils concernent également les forêts tropicales, les prairies permanentes, les zones humides, le milieu dunaire et les espaces urbains. Les modèles biologiques étudiés sont essentiellement des espèces d’arbres et de plantes herbacées, ainsi que les champignons pathogènes, insectes et microbiotes qui leur sont associés. L’UMR porte une mission d’enseignement au sein de l’université de Bordeaux (Ecole Doctorale «sciences et environnements») et intervient dans la formation des ingénieurs de Bordeaux Science Agro.

BIOGECO ( BIOdiversity, GEnes & COmmunities) is a Joint Research Unit (UMR) of INRAE and the University of Bordeaux. The mission of the UMR Biogeco is to develop innovative research oriented towards the analysis of biodiversity at different scales of life (from genes to communities of organisms) in a perspective of sustainable management of natural resources and environments. The unit's ambition is to promote an integrated analysis of biological diversity, considering biotic interactions and the effect of the environment in order to better understand the responses of populations and species to global changes, as well as the mechanisms underlying their evolution and adaptation. The ecosystems studied are varied but with a strong tropism towards temperate forests. They also concern tropical forests, permanent grasslands, wetlands, dune environments and urban areas. The biological models studied are essentially herbaceous tree and plant species, as well as the pathogenic fungi, insects and microbiotes associated with them. The UMR has a teaching mission within the University of Bordeaux (Doctoral School "Sciences and Environments") and is involved in the training of Bordeaux Science Agro engineers.
