L’Unité Expérimentale Horticole (UE Horti) du centre INRAE des Pays de la Loire se situe au cœur du troisième bassin français de production de pommes et de poires, et au cœur du plus grand bassin français de production horticole d'ornement. Elle est implantée sur les sites d’Angers/Beaucouzé et des Hauts d’Anjou. Les sols sont de types Limon sablo argileux et le climat tempéré, de transition entre le climat océanique et le climat continental. Le dispositif expérimental comporte près de 55 000 arbres et arbustes de plein champ. Une pépinière, servant à la fois à la multiplication du matériel végétal et à son évaluation précoce comporte 30 000 individus (issus de semis, greffes de table et écussons). Les missions et activités de l’UE Horti consistent à fournir du matériel biologique pour l’expérimentation, à co-construire des protocoles d’essais et à suivre le déroulement des essais jusqu’à la fourniture des résultats : - Fabrication du matériel végétal (greffage, écussonnage, semis en pépinière…), - Mise en en place des essais (préparation des terrains, plantation, irrigation, palissage, …), - Conduite des vergers (fertilisation, éclaircissage, suivi phytosanitaires, récoltes…), - Co-élaboration de protocoles expérimentaux, mise en place d’essai, suivi, phénotypage et analyse des résultats - L’UE Horti est partenaire dans le cadre de métaprogrammes INRAE, de projets Casdar, ANR et européen. L’UE Horti réalise ses essais dans le cadre de la charte qualité des pomiculteurs de France (cahier des charges Production Fruitière Intégrée - PFI). Des essais sont également conduits selon le cahier des charges de l’Agriculture Biologique - AB. L’UE Horti est également certifiée ISO 14 001, démarche Système de Management Environnemental d’INRAE. The Horticulture Experimental Facility (UE Horti) of the INRAE center in the Pays de la Loire region is located in the heart of France's third largest apple and pear production basin, and in the heart of France's largest ornamental horticultural production area. It is located on the Angers/Beaucouzé and Hauts d'Anjou sites. The soils are of the sandy-clayey silt type and the climate is temperate, with transition between oceanic and continental climates. The experimental set-up includes nearly 55,000 trees and shrubs in the field. A nursery, used both for the multiplication of plant material and for its early evaluation, comprises 30,000 individuals (from seedlings, table grafts and patches). UE Horti's missions and activities consist of providing biological material for the experiments, co-constructing trials protocols and monitoring the trials until the results issue: - Manufacture of plant material (grafting, budding, nursery sowing...), - Setting up the trials (land preparation, planting, irrigation, trellising, ...), - Orchard management (fertilization, thinning, phytosanitary monitoring, harvesting...), - Development of experimental protocols, trial set-up, monitoring, phenotyping and analysis of results - UE Horti is a partner in INRAE meta-programmes, Casdar, ANR and European projects. UE Horti carries out its trials within the framework of the quality charter for French apple growers (Integrated Fruit Production specifications - PFI). Tests are also conducted in accordance with the specifications of Organic Agriculture. UE Horti is also certified ISO 14 001, INRAE's Environmental Management System approach.
